Job Description
A large global enterprise services client is seeking an experienced IBM z/VM Systems Programmer to support and enhance a complex, multi-tenant mainframe virtualization environment. The role focuses on operational stability, performance optimization, automation, and support of Linux on IBM Z workloads.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade IBM z/VM environments, including PTF management. Administer CP, CMS, spool, paging, and minidisk configurations. Manage z/VM virtual networking (VSWITCH, NICDEF, VLANs, routing/bridging). Provision and support Linux on IBM Z guests (RHEL/SLES) under z/VM. Perform performance monitoring, capacity planning, and tuning across CPU, memory, and I/O.
Support storage integrations including FCP / SAN-attached storage . Develop and maintain operational documentation, automation, and runbooks.
Provide L2/L3 support, incident/problem management, and participate in change activities.
