Web developers are responsible for day-to-day site design and creation. Webmasters are responsible for the technical aspects of the web site, including performance issues such as speed of access, and for approving site content. They administer the network infrastructure, including servers such as web, file transfer protocol (FTP), news and mail. Web Administrators meet with web developers to create and operate web sites, or to manage projects, such as e-marketing campaigns. They install or configure web servers to ensure that directory structure is well defined, logical, secure, and that files are named properly.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Evaluate user needs to determine technical requirements.
  • Back up files from web sites to local directories for instant recovery in case of problems.
