Program Overview

An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers students hands‑on clinical experience in a supportive and dynamic environment. The hospital provides a full range of veterinary services, including general practice, advanced orthopedic surgery, dentistry, and more.

Responsibilities

• Gather patient histories
• Perform physical exams
• Create treatment plans
• Assist with diagnostics and dentistry services
• Observe or assist in surgical procedures
• Manage patient medical care
• Practice communication skills with the team, support staff, and clients

Program Duration

Externship experiences range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules.
