Overview

An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of a veterinary practice and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Responsibilities

• Work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gather patient histories
• Perform physical examinations
• Create treatment plans
• Assist in diagnostics and dentistry services
• Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures
• Participate in medical management of patients
• Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients
