Day in the Life
After attending a safety briefing and completing a gear check, the Traffic Control Person takes position on the roadside to safely guide vehicles through construction zones.
The role requires standing for extended periods while remaining alert to traffic flow and changing site conditions.
Throughout the day, the Traffic Control Person communicates clearly with drivers and crew members using hand signals and/or radios to maintain a protected work environment for everyone on site.
Responsibilities
- Direct traffic through construction and maintenance zones
- Monitor traffic patterns and respond quickly to changing conditions
- Communicate professionally with the public, drivers, and teammates
- Support the crew with light general labour duties as required
- Maintain a strong focus on safety for workers, pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists
