Tax Preparer

Work one-on-one with customers. Prepare their tax returns and get them their maximum refund. Encourage customers to meet with a customer support volunteer to talk money and savings.

THE TASKS

• Prepare state and federal tax returns using TaxSlayer software
• Ask customers if they’d like to save some of their refund
• Direct customers to work with the customer support volunteer to talk financial services
• Provide stellar customer service and maintain customer privacy

THE SKILLS

• Knowledge of basic income tax preparation and meet one of the following:
  • Have filed your own tax return
  • Taken a tax law or income tax accounting course at the college level
  • Work in the accounting field
• Ability to effectively communicate and engage with customers
• Computer proficient
• Enjoy working in an ethnically and socio-economically diverse environment
