Duties & Responsibilities

  2. Communicate with child to evaluate their levels of speech or language difficulty

  3. Determine the extent of communication problems by having a child complete basic reading and vocalizing tasks or by giving standardized tests
  4. Identify treatment options
  5. Create and carry out an individualized treatment plan

  6. Support for parents:

  7. Teach child how to make sounds and improve their voices

  8. Work with child to improve their ability to read and write correctly
  9. Work with child to develop and strengthen the muscles used to swallow

  10. Speech-language pathologists must also complete administrative tasks, including keeping accurate records. They record their initial child evaluations and diagnoses, treatment progress, any changes in a child's condition or treatment plan, and, eventually, they complete a fin...
