Special Class Teacher / Deputy Principal (424354) Temporary Position

Overview

Varatien School is a two-teacher special school for grades 7-9, operating in connection with a child welfare institution. The school is administratively part of Tervakoski Combined School. We are seeking a substitute special class teacher from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027, who will also serve as the deputy principal of Varatien School.

Responsibilities

• Teach in one of the eight-place special classes.
• Act as frontline supervisor for other staff at the school.
• Manage daily operations at Varatien School.
• Collaborate with students individually and support interaction skills; neurodiversity competence is considered an asset.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher according to Finnish decree 1998/986. The qualification must be obtained before the application deadline.
• Applicants must submit a criminal record extract concerning work with children, as required by the Act (504/2002).
