Overview

City Centre Based SEMH Teaching Assistant Supporting Pupils with Social, Emotional & Mental Health Needs (Aged 11-18).

We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary‑age provision in the heart of the city centre. You will work with pupils aged 11-18 who have EHCPs for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing consistent, relationship‑based support that helps them re‑engage with learning and develop emotional resilience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
• Use holistic nurture approaches to build trust, confidence and emotional safety.
• Apply positive consequence therapy to help pupils understand behaviour, choices and outcomes.
• De‑escalate perceived challenging behaviour.
• Support pupils to regulate emotions, manage transitions and access learning.
