Research Scientist, postdoc, tropical ecology

About the Position

We are looking for a post‑doc to design and manage an ecological field experiment in Indonesian oil palm plantations. The aim is to investigate biodiversity‑ecosystem function (BEF) relationships by manipulating the understory vegetation in a large‑scale experiment.

Responsibilities

• Design and initiate the experiment, including selecting plant species for experimental treatments.
• Implement treatment regimes in the field and conduct monitoring.
• Measure effects of treatments on plant‑focused metrics, such as resistance to invasion.
• Collaborate with researchers in Finland, the UK, Belgium, and Indonesia, and with stakeholders in the palm‑oil industry.

Qualifications

• Experience in large‑scale ecological field experiments, ideally in tropical settings.
