Job Description

Interested in developing statistical methods for large spatial datasets? Join as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the project DIVSPOT to develop new methods for large, heterogeneous point patterns, with applications in forest science and spatial biology.

The postdoctoral researcher will work in the Research Council of Finland funded DIVSPOTproject on methodological developments in spatial statistics, with a focus on large-scale point pattern data. The work combines theoretical statistics, computational methods, and real-world applications in forestry and spatial biology.

Main responsibilities

  • developing local diversity characteristics for heterogeneous spatial point patterns
  • designing statistically rigorous methods for hotspot detection
  • implementing computationally efficient algorithms for large-scale datasets (millions of observations)
  • conducting simulation studies and analyzing large datasets
  • applying methods to remote...
