Registered Nurse- Emergency Department

Primary Duties

• Provides comprehensive care to patients with predictable and unpredictable outcomes; is responsible for exercising judgement in accepting responsibility and is accountable for his/her actions.
• Understands, upholds and promotes the ethical standards of the profession and the hospital’s code of conduct.
• Practices in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards and hospital policies and procedures.
• Rapid patient assessment and appropriate interventions as per medical directives/physician orders.
• Initiates and completes all nursing interventions and collaborates with other members of the interdisciplinary health care teams.
• Completes documentation on assessments and ongoing treatment in a timely manner.
• Initiates appropriate measures of infection control and reporting to Public Health as required.
• Health education for patients, families and public as required.
