Role Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Northern pre op team for a band 5 staff nurse. We are a small and friendly team, based at Bideford Community hospital. The role covers both adult and children and involves assessing for fitness of surgery. Incorporating NHSE's early screening, triaging, risk assessment and health optimisation in perioperative pathways, the role covers risk assessment and management, not only at the pre op assessment appointment, but also much earlier in the pathway. 

Based at Bideford hospital, the role involves pre op assessing patients fitness for surgery. This includes both adults and children. This requires assessment skills and communication skills to be able to identify and optimise areas of risk. This process begins very early in the patients peri op journey and the service covers all surgical specialities, with the exception of ophthalmology and gynaecology.
