Ranch Hand / Pasture Rider

Responsibilities

• Daily Health Checks: Visually inspecting every animal in their designated area to ensure they are eating, breathing correctly, and acting normally.
• Disease Management: Identifying respiratory diseases or other ailments early and safely pulling the animal into a hospital pen for veterinary treatment.
• Low-Stress Handling: Moving and sorting cattle calmly using point-of-balance techniques to avoid stressing the herd.
• Record Keeping: Logging health data, treatment regimens, and inventory counts.
• General Maintenance: Often assisting with repairing fences, cleaning water troughs and managing feed bunks in hospital pens.
• Bedding cattle and cleaning pens.
• Pen and yard maintenance.
• Cleaning / maintaining water bowls.
• Following protocol and company procedures for each of the above.
• Specialized jobs when assigned by Ranch Manager or Ranch Foreman.
