About QGEM

Queen's Genetically Engineered Machine (QGEM) is a synthetic biology design team at Queen's University. QGEM provides students with hands-on and interdisciplinary experience in molecular biology, computational biology, biotechnological engineering, outreach, science communication, and entrepreneurship.

The team competes annually at the international iGEM competition, while also delivering community outreach, educational programming, and scientific engagement events.

iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) is the world's largest synthetic biology competition, where student teams design, build, and test innovative biological systems to address real-world challenges.
