A Public Health Nurse combines knowledge from public health science, primary health care, nursing science, research, evidence-based practice and the determinants of health to promote, protect, and preserve the health of individuals, families, groups and communities. There is one vacancy in the Vaccine Preventable Diseases program and one vacancy in the Infectious Diseases/Sexual health program.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Responsible for professional competence under appropriate legislation, the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice, the Canadian Community Health Nursing Standards of Practice and the Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada
