Under the direction of the Utilities Supervisor, the Pipefitter performs various duties relating to the construction, maintenance and repair of the water and wastewater systems.

Responsibilities

• Laying water mains, locating and repairing mains and connections, installing and repairing hydrants and valves, maintenance and repairing of pumps
• Tapping, grading and laying of sewer pipes, repairing breaks, clearing blocked sewer mains, repairing and construction of manholes and catch basins
• Assisting in unloading of materials and making sure all materials are booked out with Stores and accounted for
• Assist and operate mechanical equipment
• Direct, supervise and train assigned employees
