Job Description

The Pittsburgh Girls Study (PGS) is under the direction of Drs. Alison Hipwell and Kate Keenan. In this NIH-funded study, a sample of 2,450 girls from the City of Pittsburgh has been followed annually for 20 years to track developmental patterns and contextual influences on health. Several current projects are focused on stress exposures and racial disparities in perinatal, metabolic, and cardiovascular health. We are hiring a full time, part time and casual Phlebotomist to join our team.

This position is grant funded.

Responsibilities:

+ Interact with all laboratory customers courteously and professionally; responds to telephone inquiries in a timely manner.
+ Following proper patient identification procedures, procures appropriate blood specimens by venipuncture, heelstick and fingerstick. As required, instructs patients on the collection procedures for laboratory specimens that are obtained by the patient, and may collect samples other than blood.
