The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist with various duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
+ Draw, process, pack, and ship specimens.
+ Restock supplies, check supply levels, and clean up between patient draws.
+ Disinfect work areas between patients and check log boxes in the morning.
+ Ensure no specimens are left behind in the fridge.
+ Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Clearly explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods to patients.
+ Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
+ Understand and follow all physicians' orders.
