PhD Research Fellow in High‑Performance Computing (HPC) – Department of Informatics, University of Oslo.

Position Details

  • Duration: 3 years (extendable up to 4 years for teaching, supervision, and research assistance).
  • Start date: no later than 1 October 2026.
  • Location: Department of Informatics, Blindern, Oslo.
  • Univ. policy: no applicant may be appointed for more than one PhD Research Fellowship at UiO.

Research Focus

This PhD project aims to study the convergence of HPC and AI/ML. The candidate will work closely with the newly established HPC Research Group and its collaborators (Simula, Inria, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, University of Tokyo, etc.) on the following themes:

  • New algorithms for parallel/distributed AI/ML.
  • Hardware‑aware and resource‑efficient partitioning for parallel/distributed AI/ML.
