Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the Program Manager the Peer Support Specialist who self identifies as having lived experience of a substance use disorder and/or mental health condition (self or family members), mirrors the cultural and linguistic profile of the community, and uses their lived experience along with skills learned in formal training to assist clients in their recovery from substance use disorder.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · 

  • Support clients who are participating in Outpatient SUD Program. 
  • Provide peer support services, individuals and group sessions. 
  • Provide support by drawing on own experiences and professional skills to build a trusting relationship with participants. 
  • Provide culturally competent services that promote recovery, engagement, socialization, self-sufficiency, self-advocacy, development of natural supports, and identification of strengths.
