The Occupational Therapist is a member of the interprofessional Dual Diagnosis Consultation Outreach Team (DDCOT) serving southeastern Ontario. The team provides assessment, consultation, and short-term treatment for people over the age of 16 with a dual diagnosis (an intellectual disability and a diagnosed or suspected mental illness including behavioural disorders). Utilizing a shared care model, the team works in collaboration with community partners and family physicians to reduce the impact of mental illness and improve the quality of life for adults with a dual diagnosis and their care providers.
