Position Overview

Permanent, Part‑Time – Nurses responsible for the medical assessment, care, safety, support and transition of youth in a secure, short‑term stabilization unit. Nurses report directly to the Program Coordinator.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Facilitates admission and discharge of youth to the unit
  • Completes physical and mental assessments, develops a plan of action, accesses appropriate resources and makes appropriate referrals to address any health issues identified during the physical component
  • Develops treatment plans in consultation with youth, parent(s)/guardian(s) and relevant team members
  • Monitors the health status of youth during their stay on the unit
  • Provides medical treatment as required or directed by physician, such as dispensing and administering medication, skin and wound care
