Department: Diabetes Education Centre

The purpose of the Diabetes Education Centre is to provide assessment, education and support to individuals affected by diabetes and their families/support systems in a multidisciplinary out‑patient setting. Referrals are accepted from physicians as well as other health care professionals. Appointments are required. The diabetes education and support team members include Registered Dietitians, Registered Nurses and a Registered Social Worker. Individual consultation, group education classes, and diabetes awareness presentations are available. The North Bay office is a full time service and offers access to specialised diabetes services including diabetes & pregnancy counselling; a provincially designated paediatric diabetes program; and an insulin pump program.
