Founded in 1869 with a shop in London, the company was the largest UK retailer of groceries for most of the 20th century. Since then, we've grown to become one of the UK's largest food retailers with over 600 supermarkets and 800 convenience stores. In this chain of supermarkets, originally sold only food, but it now sells non-food products: things like mobile phones, clothing, and books.
