Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Halifax, West Yorkshire
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum
About the Role
This role involves developing new mechanical instruments from concept to production within a multi‑disciplined engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Design new mechanical instruments and components in 3D CAD, following company design guidelines and brand standards
- Produce full design documentation for production handover, including component drawings, assembly drawings, SAT files, BOMs and exploded views
- Identify and specify testing methods to validate designs beyond intended operating limits, ensuring robustness in real‑world use
- Investigate and resolve design weaknesses identified during prototyping, focusing on manufacturability and prototype build cost return
- Research and introduce new materials, technologies and manufacturing processes to keep designs at the leading edge
