Job Description

A mechanic's job is to inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles, machinery, and light trucks. Mechanics, also known as service technicians, are responsible for ensuring that vehicles are in good working order.

Diagnosing issues: Use diagnostic equipment and interpret a vehicle owner's concerns to identify problems

Repairing and replacing parts: Fix faulty parts, such as brake pads, wheel bearings, and sensors

Performing maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, such as changing oil, checking fluid levels, and rotating tires
