Materials lab Assistant

Position Overview

This will be responsible for precision sample preparation of test specimens in accordance with ASTM, CSA, ISO, and other applicable standards. This role may involves operating manual and CNC machines, maintaining equipment, ensuring dimensional accuracy, and working closely with our mechanical testing and metallurgy teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare tensile, Charpy, bend, impact, hardness, and fatigue test specimens from various metals and alloys.
• Operate manual and CNC milling machines, lathes, saws, grinders, precision measurement tools, etc.
• Prepare samples in accordance with ASTM A370, E23, E8, E190, and other relevant standards.
• Verify dimensions using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and surface measurement tools.
• Maintain equipment, tooling, and machining logs.
• Work with the NDT and mechanical testing team to prioritize and schedule specimen preparation.
