Summary This position is located in the Carpentry shop of the Maintenance Section of Facilities Engineering Service at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Responsibilities Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Performs bricklaying as required to repair existing, cutting and splitting of bricks and blocks; includes, but not limited to, common and face brick, terra cotta, cement, and cinder block. Creates or replaces expansion joints and edges using forms, edging tools, jointers, and straightedges. Performs construction of steel reinforced support pads for building equipment. Performs general ceramic tile work for wet areas, such as kitchens, bathrooms, operating room scrub areas and labs. Creates window and doorway openings in concrete masonry unit (CMU) walls; installs windowsills and door jambs, along with lintels used to support the weight of the wall above the openings.
