Role:
As a small and open economy that imports the majority of its food, Singapore is inherently vulnerable to supply disruptions from climate change, disease outbreaks and geopolitical uncertainties. SFA adopts a multi-pronged approach to ensure that Singapore has a resilient supply of safe food. Local food production is a key pillar of this strategy that provides a regenerative source of food and serves as a buffer in times of supply disruptions. Against this backdrop, how can Singapore make the most effective use of its limited land and sea space to produce food locally in an environmentally sustainable and economically viable manner.
