Makaton Teaching Assistant

Do you have experience using Makaton to support children with additional needs?

We're recruiting experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join welcoming specialist schools in South Shields, supporting pupils with Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties, speech and language needs and complex communication difficulties.

You'll work closely with classroom teachers to deliver engaging learning experiences while using Makaton and other communication strategies to help pupils access the curriculum.

We're looking for someone who:

• Has previous SEND experience.
• Is confident using Makaton within an educational setting.
• Builds positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Is reliable, proactive and compassionate.
