Maintenance Worker

Summary This position functions as a Maintenance Worker within the Facilities Management service at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center in Fort Meade, SD and performs a variety of sub journey level trade tasks. Responsibilities Major duties and responsibilities include: Plans, lays out, and completes work involving the repair, replacement, and installation of wood components such as siding, doors, paneling, ceiling tile, window and door frames, and door jams. Constructs shelving and simple frameworks; installs and replaces hinges, locks, catches, and related hardware. Performs medium grade finish work Repairs building infrastructure to include minor electrical and plumbing. Uses hand and power tools such as hammers, drills, handsaws, screwdrivers, routers, power saws, and sanders. Assists journeyman technicians with more complicated tasks including electricians, pipefitters and HVAC.
