Maintenance Operative

Overview

Maintenance Operative – Westbourne Tower Care Home, Dorset. 3 x 7.5‑hour shifts per week, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance tasks and basic repairs – electrical, plumbing, joinery, and building work inside and outside the home.
• Perform routine checks of services and apply basic fixes to equipment and systems to ensure facilities are fully functional.
• Support new residents with the arrangement of their rooms.
• Ensure routine re‑decoration meets standards.
• Advise on the supply and quality of items used for maintenance and ensure timely ordering of replacement goods.
• Provide out‑of‑hours emergency service and participate in the on‑call rota.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in a general maintenance or handy‑person role, or a professional trade qualification.
