Machine Shop Technician

Job Summary

: Sets up and operates conventional lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills, Portable machining equipment, CNC lathes and Vertical Mills machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties. Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures. Dismantle machinery or equipment using proper hand tools and equipment. Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.

Responsibilities

Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work-piece as guides for subsequent machining as necessary.
