Linux Cryptography and Security Engineer

Join Canonical as a Linux Cryptography and Security Engineer. This role focuses on building and maintaining the security foundation of Ubuntu, ensuring compliance with international information security standards such as FIPS 140-3 and Common Criteria.

Core responsibilities include

  • Collaborate with the Security Hardening team to achieve and retain security certifications.
  • Extend and enhance Linux cryptographic components (OpenSSL, Libgcrypt, GnuTLS, and others) for FIPS and CC certification.
  • Work with external consultants to test and validate kernel and crypto module components.
  • Develop security hardening benchmarks and audit + remediation automation for Ubuntu.
  • Contribute to Ubuntu mainline and upstream projects to land solutions.
  • Communicate and collaborate across Canonical and external partners to improve security posture.
