Laboratory Assistant – LHSC (Float - South Okanagan)

Full time (37.5 h/week). Hours: Mon - Fri, 7:30am - 4:30pm. Coverage: South Okanagan LHSCs: West Kelowna, Peachland, Penticton, Keremeos, Osoyoos. Workstyle: 100% onsite.

Responsibilities

• Process blood samples and other laboratory specimens, entering requisitions and results accurately and in a timely manner.
• Provide customer service to create a best possible patient experience; handle stressful situations with empathy, care, and kindness.
• Obtain quality blood samples and other specimens from patients, using skillful venipuncture techniques.
• Sort and steer specimens and perform ECGs.
• Ensure specimens and supporting documentation are completed as required in SOPs and ready for data entry and transportation to the laboratory, following established protocols.
• Ensure all confidential information is maintained securely.
