Location: Medical Center-Prosper Department: Lab-Pathology Shift: Varying Shifts (United States of America) Standard Weekly Hours: 4 Summary: SCHEDULE: Deep nights, third shift availability Flexibility between 6pm-4am Must be available to pick up one shift per week The Lab Assistant I performs positive patient identification Receives specimens into the lab reception area, inputs specimen information into laboratory information system and conducts patient/client registration as necessary. Makes determinations for specimen collection containers and volumes based on patient weight and performing laboratory. Maintains specimen integrity during specimen transport, and processing of samples received in the laboratory. Communicates specimen issues to caregivers. Provides customer service by greeting visitors, answering the telephone, transferring phone calls, faxing results, and assisting with specimen requirements.
