Project Goal: (MVP-0)
Build one working smart compost-bin prototype that measures compost weight and sends readings to the cloud over Wi-Fi, then displays the data in an ultra-simple web dashboard (no mobile app). This is a feasibility prototype for future pilots.
What you will build:
Hardware + Firmware
Integrate load cell + HX711 with ESP32 (or equivalent Wi-Fi MCU)
Implement calibration + tare (saved across restarts)
Implement stable event logic (detect meaningful additions without noise/jitter)
Post data over Wi-Fi to cloud endpoint (HTTPS or MQTT)
Cloud + Database
Implement a minimal ingestion service and database (OK: Supabase / Firebase / AWS)
Store readings with proper timestamps and device IDs
Provide simple device auth (token or key)
Web Dashboard (ultra-simple)
Password-protected page is fine
Show:
•Latest reading + last updated
•History (table + simple chart)
•Daily totals (sum by day)
