Job Description
The Ningaloo Turtle Program (NTP) is a volunteer turtle conservation program run by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (Parks and Wildlife Service) and the local Exmouth community. Green, loggerhead and hawksbill turtles nest in the Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area. These are threatened species and the data collected by the NTP is used to inform management and conservation while minimising human and predator impact on their survival.
Each summer during the turtle nesting season, the NTP recruits interns and volunteers from all over Australia to help us with the program. Participants are trained in turtle track monitoring techniques, turtle interaction protocols and turtle rescues. Volunteers each walk a section of beach at sunrise to record turtle activity.
The NTP is currently advertising for:
3 x Team Leader Volunteer Internship positions (8.5 weeks)
