Installer, Mason and Carpenter

Responsibilities

• Builds and maintains structures using brick, stone, concrete, and other materials. They are also known as bricklayers or stonemasons.
• Interpreting drawings: Masons read technical drawings to understand how to construct a building
• Mixing materials: Masons mix cement and mortar, and apply them to surfaces with a trowel
• Cutting and shaping materials: Masons cut and shape bricks, stones, and concrete blocks
• Constructing structures: Masons build walls, chimneys, arches, and other structures
• Maintaining structures: Masons repair and maintain existing masonry structures
• Using tools: Masons use hand and power tools to cut, shape, and install materials
• Ensuring alignment: Masons use levels and plumbs to ensure structures are aligned
• Cleaning and maintaining: Masons clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas
