Husbandry Technician

Under direct supervision, the husbandry technician provides direct care and maintenance for various species of laboratory animals, including feeding, general husbandry and cleaning of caging and related equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Work hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily. Weekend and holiday work will be required.
• Responsible for general animal husbandry, including changing holding areas, cage change, daily cleaning and sanitizing of animal housing areas, toys, cages and manipulanda.
• Ensures that the animal care and environmental policies and procedures are always adhered to.
• Responsible for documenting in writing that animal husbandry tasks have been completed; report problems such as machine malfunctions and animal illness, orally and/or in writing, to supervisor or veterinary staff.
• Reports any abnormalities within the animal area.
