OHCHR Colombia works to strengthen communities and local authorities, particularly in areas most affected by internal armed conflict, so they can participate more effectively in decision-making and local peacebuilding efforts. It supports trust-building, stabilization, and sustainable peace by promoting human rights, community resilience, and inclusive local governance. A key focus is advancing the collective rights of Indigenous Peoples, Black and Afro-descendant communities, and peasant communities through support to self-governance, community justice, land and territory rights, and intercultural approaches.
