NATURE AND SCOPE

Reporting to the Medical Manager or designate, Health Care Aides (HCAs) are valued members of the interdisciplinary team at Thorpe Recovery Centre and provide supportive care to clients in both residential treatment and detox settings. HCAs assist the medical and nursing teams in the implementation of individualized care plans by providing personal care, emotional support, and assistance with activities of daily living while promoting client safety, wellness, independence, and participation in their own care. HCAs work collaboratively with nursing staff, physicians, and Community Support Workers to support admissions, transfers, discharges, and continuity of care. They observe, document, and report changes in client condition, behaviours, incidents, and safety concerns in a timely manner using the EMR, and follow all infection prevention, safety, and organizational policies.
