FREIGHT RATE SPECIALIST

The primary purpose of this position is: To determine the legally applicable and most economical rates and routes for shipment of freight in accordance with published tariffs. Responsibilities Plans and carries out shipping arrangements. Receives shipping requests or other authority for shipment. Determines freight classification for a variety of unusual and standard items, some of which have no recorded or published classifications. Conducts pre- and post-audits and maintains shipping documentation. Provides technical guidance and advice on problems in all phases of outbound/inbound shipping.
