Fire Prevention Officer

The City of Bathurst is seeking a Fire Prevention Officer to join the Bathurst Fire Services team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Fire Services, the Fire Prevention Officer is a leadership position responsible the duties supporting mandated requirements from the Office of the Fire Marshall.

The Fire Prevention Officer will:

• Conduct routine and special fire inspections in accordance with provincial requirements while enforcing the National Fire Code of Canada; National Building Code of Canada; provincial regulations, and municipal bylaws.
• Oversee enforcement follow ups, review written orders, and carry enforcement actions through to court proceedings.
• Develop and maintain an effective fire inspection cycle, fire prevention education programs, and departmental prevention training.
