Engineering Equipment Operator (Seasonal)

Summary This position serve as an Engineering Equipment Operator with the Gateway National Recreation Area. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is October - March, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: October 2026 Open to the first 50 applicants or until 07/27/2026 whichever comes first. All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration. Responsibilities MAJOR DUTIES: Operate heavy gasoline or diesel-powered engineering equipment. Operate equipment on mountainous or steep terrain to excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth to rough specifications on projects. Operate a boom for placing pipe, hydrants, and other large objects in utility and road maintenance operations throughout the park unit. Load, secure, and drive equipment to and from project sites.
