Doctoral Researcher (soft robotics)

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Doctoral Researcher to join the Bioinspired Materials and Robotics group as part of a Horizon Europe project focused on developing microfluidic sensor technologies for soft robotics. The role is full‑time, fixed‑term for 3 years, starting on 1 September 2026 (or mutually agreed, but no later than 1 November 2026). It will be located on the Hervanta Campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and model microfluidic channel networks for soft robotic systems.
  • Develop computer‑aided design tools for microfluidic devices.
  • Build, fabricate and test microfluidic devices using microfabrication and 3D printing techniques.
  • Perform fluid‑dynamic modelling and simulation using finite element methods.
