Job Title: Director of People & HR

Type of contract: Full-time; Remote Working Hours: M–F EST

MUST HAVE: NYS Labor Law Expertise.

Scope of the Role

The Director of People & HR will own the entire HR function with full accountability for payroll accuracy, labour law compliance, and employee relations. This is a senior operator role, requiring proven experience navigating NYC-specific regulations, audits, and enforcement realities. You will partner directly with executive leadership and act as the final authority on HR risk and compliance decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Payroll & NYC Compliance Ownership

  • Own end-to-end payroll operations with strict adherence to NYC and NYS wage & hour laws.
  • Ensure compliance with NYC-specific requirements, including Paid Safe and Sick Leave, Fair Workweek (where applicable), Wage Theft Prevention Act notices, Final pay timing and documentation.
