  • Diagnosing Engine Problems: A major part of the job involves identifying issues in diesel engines using specialized diagnostic equipment or by conducting manual inspections. Diesel engines are complex, and problems can range from issues with fuel injection systems to electrical faults or mechanical failures.
  • Performing Routine Maintenance: Mechanics are responsible for ensuring trucks remain in good working condition through routine maintenance. This includes changing oil and filters, replacing air and fuel filters, checking and replacing fluids, inspecting belts, and conducting other preventative checks that help prevent more significant issues down the road.
