CSSD Technician

Overview

Oversees and performs all functions related to the Clean, Sterile Services Department (CSSD) ensuring proper collection, disinfection, sterilization, and distribution of instruments and supplies while maintaining strict adherence to hospital policies and infection control protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect instruments, verify integrity, and follow proper checking procedures.
• Receive instruments, use prescribed disinfection and cleaning techniques, and apply appropriate PPE.
• Direct and supervise CSSD assistants during all operations.
• Work independently as a CSSD technician, assembling, protecting, wrapping, containerizing, labeling, or peel-pouching instruments.
• Identify cleanliness and functionality of items; handle sterile supplies and equipment properly.
• Choose correct sterilization methods, applying principles of sterilization, and distribute items to respective departments.
